The foodies behind Silos Restaurant Berry and premium catering services for weddings and events on the South Coast, NSW.

 Smithy and The Chef is the energetic business collaboration of Sarah Smith and Andrew Hickie who decided to take their careers and ‘husband and wife’ partnership to a new level – becoming business partners.

Combining their skills in hospitality, business management, PR, events and a trained fine-dining Chef, the company Smithy and The Chef was born, a tree change was undertaken and their first venture secured – Silos Restaurant. Delivering a new foodie destination to the popular township of Berry on the South Coast of NSW, Smithy and The Chef returned the iconic Silos Restaurant to its rustic roots with farm-to table style country cuisine. Their menu personalises the classics with food the duo love to eat and entertain friends with.

Due to demand from weddings and events, the restaurateurs soon launched Smithy and The Chef Catering offering their signature seasonal, creative catering up and down the stunning NSW South Coast, from Kiama to Ulladulla.

About the Chef

Leading the team as Executive Chef, Andrew has cooked for some of the world’s biggest celebrities having travelled the globe for years aboard the private super yacht for billionaire David Geffen, where he managed VIP dining experiences for the likes of Tom Hanks, Oprah, Tony Blair, Robert De Niro, Ellen De Generes and Bruce Springsteen to name a few. Returning to Australia, Andrew led Menu Development for ‘Stix’, one of Australia’s premium caterers, managing the clients Qantas First Class, Etihad and Macquarie Bank. Our Chef knows first-hand just what food makes even the most discerned diner happy!

About Smithy

Helping clients turn their idea or dream into a reality is Sarah’s (Smithy) domain. As Event Manager of the team, she not only leads our wedding team at Silos and catering food and beverage staff, but also our “Party Concierge” – providing an extra level of tailored event planning service for brides, corporates and private events on the South Coast, NSW.  Sarah has represented the best of the best in events, brands and high-profile talent including the Good Food Guide Awards, Sydney International Food Festival, ABC TV, Sydney Opera House, and Universal Music’s INXS, Bryan Adams and Elton John to name a few.
