Sarah Smith has spent 17+ years working in the communications industry with leading brands in the music, entertainment, media, travel, and not-for-profit sectors.
With a Masters in Journalism, Sarah began her career writing travel editorial for national tourism media. Representing the Australian Capital Territory and South Australian tourism organisations, she hosted media from around the world to the destinations to drive domestic tourism and support local operators. She also worked alongside Tourism Australia as part of the Sydney 2000 Olympics Media Centre team.
In 2005 Sarah founded her own public relations consultancy. In 2009, she helped launch the Sydney International Food Festival (as part of Destination New South Wales’ Crave program) for Fairfax Media. She also directed the national publicity campaign for the prestigious SMH Good Food Guide.
Juggling her corporate career, Sarah also took to the stage as front-woman for indie pop group, Radio INK. She toured Afghanistan, the Solomon Islands and Gaza in Egypt as part of Australia's Forces Entertainment. She later switched to jazz where she was resident musician for Maurice Terzini’s “10 Chefs, 10 Dinners’ at Icebergs Dining Room and Bar featuring Neil Perry, Andrew McConnell and Shannon Bennett.
Since 2011 Sarah has led the Communications team for Sydney Opera House including Vivid Music and Festival of Dangerous Ideas, and most recently was the Senior Director for high-profile artists at Universal Music Australia including working with Elton John, INXS, Bryan Adams, Bernard Fanning, Jake Bugg, Air Supply, Andre Rieu, and Empire of the Sun.
Sarah’s latest adventures include The House of Heroes, a consultancy studio which she is Managing Director of. Her team specialise in the management of premium talent and brands.
She is also the proud Owner / General Manager of Silos Restaurant with her husband, Chef and Providore ambassador – Andrew. Together they launched the company Smithy and The Chef and currently Sarah manages the restaurant’s Events and Wedding Team.
